To become a NASM Master Trainer you must complete the following:
Certified Personal Trainer Level 1
Most gyms such as equinox located in Brooklyn prefer their personal trainers to have their NASM-CPT 1 which is the base certification. This basic certification goes over the fundamentals of weight loss, exercise technique, form, programming, and nutrition.
NASM Weight Loss Specialist
Joe routinely sees clients throughout Brooklyn, from Williamsburg to Parkslope who seek all weight loss. Weight loss is one of the key factors to prevent diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cardiovascular disease. Joe knew he needed to become an expert on the subject of weight loss. Having lost 80 pounds himself he felt that he was already an expert on weight loss.
Being a NASM Weight Loss Specialist wasn't a walk in the park. Given that this certification is much more advanced than the Certified Personal Trainer Level 1 Joe had to devote much of his time to studying.
NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist

The Corrective Exercise certification teaches trainers on how to treat different muscle imbalances caused by past injuries, faulty movement patterns, and poor posture. We will take time to review your past injuries in great detail.
Muscle imbalances can easily slow down weight loss or lead to injury. Instead of ignoring your low back pain by abusing pain killers treat it instead! Don't just expect to lose weight and get instant low back pain relief. Muscle imbalances don't occur over night, but through advanced exercises & stretching techniques than be reversed.
On the other hand having the extensive knowledge of corrective exercise is the key to prevent injuries in the first place. Injuries often stop weight loss progress in its tracks. Time and time again new exercisers have all the motivation in the world, but after a month at the gym they develop different aches and pains.
Back Pain Relief
Back pain is usually due to improper movement patterns and synergistic dominance in which the assisting muscle takes over the job for the prime mover.
In the bending movement the glutes or butt often gets inhibited due to tight hip flexors that reduce the activation of the butt during the this movement. This creates a need for the assisting muscles such as the hamstrings & low back to help out. After a period of time using back and hamstrings instead of your butt to do the heavy lifting you can develop low back pain.
